New Zealand
New Zealand is an island country located in the southeastern tip of Oceania, characterized by a generally balanced climate in addition to being a wealthy and urbanized country, although it has a low population density. It has ports that connect it with Australia and New Guinea, in addition to an airport.

IG Factbook: "The Polynesian Maori reached New Zealand in about A.D. 800. In 1840, their chieftains entered into a compact with Britain, the Treaty of Waitangi, in which they ceded sovereignty to Queen Victoria while retaining territorial rights. That same year, the British began the first organized colonial settlement. A series of land wars between 1843 and 1872 ended with the defeat of the native peoples. The British colony of New Zealand became an independent dominion in 1907 and supported the UK militarily in both world wars. New Zealand's full participation in a number of defense alliances lapsed by the 1980s. In recent years, the government has sought to address longstanding Maori grievances."

- New Zealand is considered by many to be one of the hardest countries to infect, though not as hard as Greenland. Both airplanes and ships go there, so either Air transmissions or Water transmissions will solve this problem.
Trivia
- It is mentioned in a news reports that New Zealand can take advantage of a shift in the Earth's magnetic field to produce energy. This event is random, and has no effect on New Zealand for the plague.
- In a changelog about bug fixes in the game, it is mentioned that the effect of magnetic shift in New Zealand has decreased, this is a joke by the developers and still has no effect on the game.[1]
- In the Teleportation scenario, New Zealand is one of the countries along with other island nations in which people choose to avoid being infected.
- New Zealand is one of the rich countries that are affected in the Sovereign Default scenario, after the economic recession, the country goes from being considered rich to middle class, making it much easier to infect.
