Country Information

IG Factbook: "The Dutch began to colonize Indonesia in the 17th century - Japan occupied the islands from 1942 to 1945. After independence a period of sometimes unruly parliamentary democracy ended in 1957 when President Soekarno declared martial law. From 1967 until 1988 he ruled Indonesia until rioting toppled his rule. Elections took place in 1999 and Indonesia is now the world's third most populous democracy. Current issues include: alleviating poverty, improving education, preventing terrorism, consolidating democracy after four decades of authoritarianism, implementing economic and financial reforms, stemming corruption reforming the criminal justice system, holding the military and police accountable for human rights violations, addressing climate change, and controlling infectious diseases. In 2005, Indonesia reached a historic peace agreement with separatists in Aceh in 2006 but continues to face low resistance in Papua by the separatist Free Papua Movement."

Recommendations

  • The gaming blog Yo It's Spicy, recommends to start building a colony of intelligent apes in this country,[1] one of the reasons why this is done is because Indonesia has a good amount of apes, making it a crucial place to obtain a high DNA colony.[2]

Trivia

  • Indonesia is the country with the largest ape population in Asia with 70,738, and second in the world after Central Africa with 408,738. This is reflected in the fact that in real life, Indonesia has several types of apes distributed in the different islands of the country, especially orangutans.[3]
  • Indonesia is one of the countries whose economy is affected in the Global Warming scenario, in which it goes from being considered a middle-income country to a poor one. Making the country more vulnerable to the plague in this scenario.
  • Both in the PC and mobile version of the game, Brunei and the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak are part of Indonesia. But in the Board Game, they are separated from Indonesia.
  • In different versions of the game, the distribution of the Indonesian islands varies, the PC and console version has a simplified map of the country excluding some small ones, while the mobile version adds a couple of extra islands such as Sumba and part of the larger Riau Islands located near the Malacca Strait, Additionally the game separated the Indonesian portion of Papua with the independent nation of Papua New Guinea.
