East Africa is a poor, rural group of countries. It has a hot climate, and is bordered by Central Africa, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Sudan, Angola and Botswana.

This group of countries includes Djibouti, Burundi, Rwanda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia

IG Factbook: "A group of the following countries: Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Burundi's first democratically elected president was assassinated after only 100 days in office in 1993. Mozambique gained independence in 1975 after over four centuries of Portuguese rule. Kenya became independent in a struggle led by Jomo Kenyatta in 1963, the same year as Uganda achieved its independence. The nation of Tanzania was formed by the merger of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Zambia is one of the world's major producers of copper. Burundi, Somalia and Malawi are some of the poorest countries in the world. Rwanda is one of only two countries in which mountain gorillas can be visited safely."

Trivia

• East Africa shares a Land Border with Saudi Arabia (specifically with the country of Djibouti), despite being separated from it by the Red Sea.
• Kenya and Ethiopia are the only countries from this group of countries that appear in the Plague Inc. Board Game.
• Strangely, there is no visible border between Rwanda and Burundi in the PC version.
• As you can see in the IoS or Mobile version of the game the nation of Djibouti has no visible border, It might be annexed by Ethiopia or Eritrea
