Russia is a middle class country located between Europe and Asia, the country is characterized by a generally cold and humid climate in most of its territory, in addition to the fact that the country's population resides mainly in rural areas and has a low population density.
Russia being a fairly large country has borders with many countries such as Norway, Finland, Baltic States, Ukraine, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, and Korea. In addition to having a port and airport that connects the country with different destinations in Europe and North America. Russia is also the starting point for the Frozen Virus scenario.

IG Factbook: "Founded in the 12th century, the Principality of Muscovy, was able to emerge from over 200 years of Mongol domination and to gradually conquer the surrounding principalities. In the early 17th century, a new Romanov Dynasty continued this policy of expansion. Repeated devastating defeats of the Russian army in World War I led to the overthrow in 1917 of the imperial household. The communists under Vladimir Lenin seized power soon after and formed the USSR. The brutal rule of Iosif Stalin (1928-53) strengthened communist rule and Russian dominance of the Soviet Union at a cost of tens of millions of lives. The Soviet economy and society stagnated in the following decades until General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev introduced glasnost (openness) and perestroika (restructuring) but his initiatives inadvertently released forces that helped end the USSR. Since then, Russia has shifted its post-Soviet democratic ambitions in favour of a centralized semi-authoritarian state."

- If you don't want to deal with infection problem in Canada, Iceland and Greenland then you should start in this country. You won't need to upgrade Cold Resistance to infect those countries if you start in Russia.
- In Cure Mode, when playing Frozen Virus, if the player uses Field Operatives' expansion operations and chooses Russia as their base of operations, they can help reduce the infection in 11 possible nearby border countries across of Europe and Asia.[1]

Trivia
- There is a special event in which, there is a possibility that the newly elected president Spalin will threaten and nuke Russia. If the player succeeds they will be able to obtain the achievement Russian Nuclear Retaliation.
- Russia, along with other countries in the far north of the world, is one of the places where DrillZero, a fictitious company that appears at the moment of beating Frozen Virus in Cure Mode. can start mining the Permafrost layer.[2]
- The City Cam when Russia is in widespread disorder displays large groups of police & 2 tanks guarding the city, but the tank seen is an M47 Patton from the USA, not Russia.
- Sakhalin Island and Kuril Islands aren't on the map in Plague Inc: Evolved. The IOS and Android version also lacks the Kamchatka Peninsula.
- In the Fake News scenario, a small mention is made about a popular myth related to this country, in which it is generally associated with being the country with the highest alcohol consumption, when the country only ranks seventh. This pop-up does not have much effect on the game, but is designed to inform the player about misinformation and conspiracy theories that have spread very quickly, which is one of the aspects of this official scenario.[3]
