PfiGlax

From Plague Inc. Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

PfiGlax is an origin story exclusive to the Necroa Virus DLC.

Mutation 1.5 introduced the Necroa Virus to Plague Inc., and with it many new achievements. Three of these achievements revolve around an attempt to cure AIDS by pharmaceutical company named PfiGlax. Due Diligence requires that scientists disprove a link between PfiGlax and the disease. Banana Skin requires that scientists discover a link, but fail to manipulate the disease. Don't Ask Me requires that scientists manipulate the disease only to have the effort fail.

Trivia

  • It is very likely that the name is based on the combination of the names of two real world pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline.
  • PfiGlax is similar to Umbrella Corporation from the Resident Evil video game series, in that both are pharmaceutical companies and have created a virus that turns people into zombies (the Necroa Virus and the Tyrant Virus, respectively).
    • However, a PfiGlax had a noble goal in creating Necroa (to develop a viable cure for AIDS), while an Umbrella created the T-Virus for eugenic and biological warfare purposes.
  • It is likely PfiGlax creating the Necroa Virus is also based on the Rage Virus origin story in the 2002 film 28 Days Later.
    • Both viruses were created for good reasons in a laboratory in Great Britain (in the case of Rage Virus, scientists wanted to produce an inhibitor to control aggression in humans), they mutated and escaped due to an accident in said laboratory.
  • To promote the upcoming "Dollars and Disasters" DLC for Rebel Inc., Ndemic Creations wrote a joke magazine article about the new Billionaire governor.[1] The article implies that the Billionaire owns both PfiGlax and DrillZero as of 2002.
