Xerophile is a gene available for the standard plagues , in addition to the Neurax Worm, Necroa Virus, Simian Flu and Shadow Plague DLCs. The gene makes the plague easier to spread in arid environments.

• This gene is useful in spreading in countries with an Arid climate, such as Saudi Arabia, South Africa or Egypt.
• The American video game magazine, TouchArcade, recommends using this gene to obtain the achievement "Not Another Zombie Game" (NAZG).
