so the RNG gods had mercy on me as i just finished using strat 4.

i placed lucky as i only tried once or twice to get the rabid bat popup, while the rabies eradication popup probably took more like 6 or 7 times. when i got the rabies film popup after a lot more tries, i decided to save just for safety.

i managed to get the "disease name is a form of ray bees" rather quickly after saving 128 and getting everything. i also got the "disease name ain't ray bees" quickly, too - in fact, i got it my first try. but, of course, cytopathic reanimation mutated. i loaded my save as the human population slowly wore. cytopathic evolved again, but i had saved before that so i loaded it as the last humans finally died. also, that stinky greenland died first!! haha!!!

so it takes a long time for humanity to die. it's actually kind of ridiculous, because i evolved acute in 2025 and the game ended in 2027. luckily, the cure progress stopped at about 80%, so it's not like i was racing it at 95%. my tip? just keep trying, and save every time you see a new popup or headline stated in strategy 4.
